The FDA cautioned consumers against using QUICK Rheumatism Capsule, Tiger Wang Biaod, or SNAKE BONES Anti-Rheumatic Capsules. Avoid purchasing or using SNAKE BONES Anti-Rheumatic Capsules, a product advertised for rheumatism on various websites and possibly in select retail stores.
Lab analysis by the FDA has revealed that SNAKE BONES Anti-Rheumatic Capsules contain a hidden drug ingredient, piroxicam, a substance not disclosed on the product label.
Piroxicam, classified as a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID), poses serious risks. It may heighten the chances of cardiovascular events like heart attacks and strokes, and cause severe gastrointestinal issues such as bleeding, ulceration, and fatal perforation of the stomach and intestines. Additionally, this undisclosed ingredient could interact with other medications, amplifying the risk of adverse effects—especially when combined with other NSAID-containing products.
Healthcare professionals and consumers are urged to report any adverse events or side effects associated with the use of this product to the FDA's MedWatch Safety Information and Adverse Event Reporting Program.
Reporting options:
Complete and submit the report online via the MedWatch Online Voluntary Reporting Form.
Download and fill out the form, then submit it via fax at 1-800-FDA-0178.
It's crucial to note that this notification aims to alert the public about products marketed as dietary supplements or conventional foods containing hidden drug ingredients and chemicals. These items are often promoted for sexual enhancement, weight loss, and bodybuilding, masquerading as "all-natural" solutions. Given FDA limitations in testing and identifying all such products, consumers should exercise caution before purchasing any items falling into the aforementioned categories.
